April 29, 2016 in Baltimore. A man was seen in an animal costume. He supposedly had a bomb on him, so the S.W.A.T was called. He was at news station coming in and out. A car was set on fire in front of the news station at the time the man entered. It was a bomb threat and police had to make a move on the suspect soon. Everyone in the area evacuated so police could get everything under control. The pan was wearing a panda costume and did not follow orders to remove hands. The man, Alex Brizzi, appeared to be what an explosive device on Brizzi was. It was a vest stuffed with chocolate candy bars, nothing wired that could possibly blow up. They then saw a small motherboard, then was attached to him was wire running down the sleeve of his jacket that possibly was a detonation device. The candy bars were wrapped in aluminum foil with wiring connecting each of them. Police then move on to Brizzi. He was shot three times by police after not following orders to remove his hands.  A robot was then deployed to disarm him when he failed to cooperate. Brizzi was transported to a local hospital where he is in serious, but stable condition. He will live. Police are also searching the Fox news station to find other possible explosives.

Talk Show

Talk Show

By Matt Wise

If I was a talk show host and I could invite anyone character from The Devil in the White City, I would invite Holmes; the serial killer. It would be interesting to ask him questions about his past or anything like that. Maybe something happened in the past that made him be this way. I would first start off by asking why? If he does not give a good reason I would go in depth and detail to find out. I would ask about any childhood nightmares or if anyone ever treated him wrongfully. I would ask him about his education because he seems like a really smart guy. He knows the ways of the business world, for example, his plan to burn the hotel to get insurance money after the fair ended. He also is a wealthy man. He knows how to charm the women. I would ask him how he does that. I would then ask about his killings. How he comes up with the ways he kills. Why he does not like to kill face to face, but be close enough to hear them die. I wonder how he is so sneaky. He goes around with women while he is also married and his wife never finds out. How he manages to hide the bodies and give them to doctors for practice without them wondering where he gets these bodies from. There is a lot I would ask Holmes. A lot of interesting facts could come out of Holmes. Maybe the key to why he is killing people.

Things I learned in High School

What I Have Learned in High School

By Matt Wise

I have learned a lot of things in high school. One thing I have learned, but is very broad is to have responsibility and to be a self-advocate. I have learned from many teachers how to be on my own. Responsibility and self-advocacy are one of the top things a person should have. In the business world, you will be told to do a task and you will have to get it done by certain dead line all on your own. If you cannot do that you will just be fired. A second thing I have learned is to always be nice to everyone. I mean I always have been, but even if there is someone you do not like, you should still be nice to them. Who knows, you may be working for them some day. Or the kid everyone thought was “weird” you should still be nice to them. A third thing I have learned in high school is to just enjoy life. Live in the moment. I hear all the time they cannot wait until college. I mean yeah I college will be really fun, but once we get there we become adults. We begin to pay bills. Live in the moment because before you know it, life will pass you by. These are the top three things I have learned in high school. The first two correlate with each other. I learned those two from being in school. I have learned the last one by focusing on time. How much time I have left till I leave. All the people I will be leaving behind.

Honor

Honor

Matt Wise

Honor can be defined in many different ways. If I was told to teach honor to incoming freshman at BVHS, I would teach them the ways of the real world after college. The world will not always be nice to you. I will teach them about getting work done as number one. Getting your work done shows you are responsible, it will help to the future when you have your career started and you get overwhelmed with work. Many students at BVHS complain that we are given too much work or our school is horrible at teaching. But actually this school prepares you well for college, all you have to do is get work done, listen, and be honest. I will speak about honesty, but in the business world, honesty is barely a thing. People will be honest, but it will not always get you somewhere. For example, a resume may not always be honest, you may have to put things on it that are not you. You just want them to make you look good. Politics are the worst about honesty, they lie to everyone so they will get votes. Many people will say cursing should be in the honor system, but in college and in the business world, there are no cursing rules. As long as you are not calling your boss or anyone names, they do not care. Fighting should be high up there. A basketball team will not play good if everyone is fighting, so if everyone works together and is friendly then it will be easy to get through school. This is what I would say to incoming freshman, if I had to speak to them about honor.

Kansas City

I <3 KC

Matt Wise

Kansas City is different than other cities. We may be small compared to cities like New York or Los Angeles, but we have more of a community than the other big cities. I am going to miss a lot about Kansas City and Overland Park. I am going to miss leaving my house anytime and going to meet up at a friends or being able to just drive around the area. It is known for being a safe area, so I do not have much to worry about when I am out. The spirit in Kansas City is very strong. When the Royals won the world series, people throughout the state came together to celebrate. I am going to miss going out with my friends and meeting other people from different schools that are my age. I do not have a lot of dislikes about Kansas City. I hate the cold weather, that is why I want to move to California. I have formed a dislike for the suburbs. I don't like how everything is about 15 minutes away from me. I like the city more because it is more like a community and everything is almost in walking distance. Moving to another city will be different. I will have to learn the new area. There is not a specific place I will miss in Kansas City because most of the restaurants here are everywhere else and just as cheap. I will always come back to KC to visit the Family.

Prized Possession

Prized Possession

Matt Wise

My most prized possession is my grandma’s salsa recipe. This is her own recipe she created and it is different than others. She cooks the peppers making the whole house smell of them. My mom would tell me all about it when she was young. My Grandma never gave the recipe to anyone. Her daughters would ask for it, but she never gave it. I always wanted it, but she would just make me the salsa. I have never had a really good connection with my grandparents since they only spoke Spanish. Every family event we went to, I would have to have an aunt or uncle translate for me. In fall of 2015 my grandma became very sick. Everyone including her knew she would not make it. I was in her hospital room when I remembered to ask for the recipe; she never had it written down, it was all in her head. I asked my mom to ask her for it and she gave it to my mom in Spanish and only wanted to give it to me. My grandma is a huge catholic and always talked about the good and success she wanted all her kids and grand-kids to have. She was always like this, but it was a huge when they immigrated to the U.S. it was hard for two immigrant parents to be very successful with 6 kids in the time period. When she was finished giving the recipe she told me to perfect it and start selling it; she believed I would make a fortune from selling it. My mom told me not to tell anyone the recipe, even family members. This recipe is important to since it was given to me, and my grandma never told anyone it until she was on her death bed.
